The Company Name

Dan Lovedale's (CL&L's founder) father, Charles Lovedale (CL), was a highly regarded general practitioner, enthusiastic Newcastle United fan, Tuesday-night-with-the-boys pub-goer, foodie, maker of brilliant boeuf Bourguignon, flat cap aficionado, tennis and squash player, explorer, birdwatcher, walker, hard-working provider for a family of six, friend to many, wine lover, wine collector, extremely generous wine sharer and the reason Dan works in wine, who left the world a little too soon in 2015.

Dan's five-year-old daughter, Lily (L), is a well-trained (kudos to Dan) cheeky little monkey, but a bright-blue-eyed superstar, extremely clever and engrossed in everything new-to-her in the world, Dan and Becky's (Lily's superstar mummy) exploration buddy, budding mini-chef, scientist, teacher, racing driver, artist and highly talented mango (and all else) eater. 

Lily's first proper solid meal (lucky lady!...) was Dexter fillet steak (rare, of course), asparagus, jus au vin rouge and all else, on what would have been my dad's 70th birthday, in June 2021. Alongside a memorable bottle (adults only!)  of Château Palmer 1983, left behind by Charles. A perfect reminder of a very rare, father-son-only evening, 20 years ago...fillet and a bleedin' great bottle bottle of 1990 Yarra Yering Dry Red No 1: one of the many memories that prompted Dan to enter the wine trade. 

CL&L is in homage to both of them.
