Our Team

CL&L Fine Wines was founded by Dan Lovedale, a member of the UK fine wine trade for 14 years and, foremost, a keen wine lover, wine collector, and occasional sipper-of.

Prior to CL&L, Dan was a co-founder, co-director and Commercial Director of Provinance Ltd for four years, following five years as Trading Director of Cellar&Co Ltd, where he managed over £4M of stockholding and £5m annual turnover, supplying finest and rarest wines to the global wine trade and private individuals, working closely alongside the highly-skilled veteran of the trade and Master of Wine, Hugo Rose, for nine years.  Before this, Dan held roles as Head of Business Development at Cru Wine Limited, Fine Wine Trader at the Vindemia Wine Trading Companies (the umbrella for a group of EIS-funded wine companies), following the ubiquitous stepping-stone of a period managing an Oddbins (RIP) branch.  This proceeded a period in restaurant management, wine list formulation, and a good dose of wine exposure in youth (see The Company Name)
 
Dan is especially experienced and interested in the finest and rarest wines of Burgundy, Bordeaux, the Northern Rhone and, on a more personal level, the quality wines of Tuscany, and mature Chinon and Saumur.

Away from the desk  Dan is a keen globetrotter, happiest trekking through a wildlife-filled rainforest in the tropics. Or relaxing, glass-of-Sangiovese-in-hand (of course), looking out over the Conca d'Oro in Panzano, Chianti, with his wife, Becky, and five-year-old daughter, Lily.  He's also an extremely keen cook, edible gardener, enthusiastic wine collector (and occasional sipper-of), well-versed and competent DIYer, tennis player and wanderer of the woods, on the hunt for ceps, chanterelles, et al, Lily and Becky in tow.  He also loves a fast car...as does Lily!
